At Syngenta, we believe every employee has a role to play in safely feeding the world and taking care of our planet. To support that challenge, the Trait Integration Team is currently seeking a Greenhouse Controlled Environment Scientist, to be located in Nampa, Idaho
In this role the greenhouse-controlled environment Scientist will be responsible for the proper settings and programming of automated systems to provide the crop with appropriate growing conditions. Also, will conduct research and prove of concept of new growing methodologies and environmental settings to accelerate crop cycles and to increase yield.
The perfect candidate will be able to work in collaboration with other teams across the organization in problem solving sessions or task forces to support critical initiatives of high impact.
He or She will lead a team of trained and skilled employees to execute crop growing activities and to collect data as well as to work with other staff members to integrate processes automation and to contribute to a LEAN and safe working culture.
Create and conduct experiments to determine the best tools, materials, media, fertilizers, irrigation cycles and crop growing methodologies, and to integrate cutting edge technologies to accelerate crop cycles and increase yield.
To partner with external or internal resources to optimize greenhouses control environment and automated systems.
To create a team of skilled employees capable of operating sophisticated growing systems and to be able to tackle any hurdles to keep growing conditions and plant health at its optimum.
Analyses data and deliver progress reports to leadership members.
Be part of the Nampa Trait Conversion Accelerator Leadership Team.
To monitor a series of interrelated sensors and ensure proper calibration and functionality.
To test and integrate new products to enhance plant performance and yield.
To sustain best greenhouses sanitation practices and pest control.
To work in collaboration with other scientists and support similar technological hubs across continuous nurseries and TI group.
MS or PHD in horticulture, greenhouse management, agronomy, or related fields
Experience with greenhouses-controlled environment
Experience creating and executing experiments in greenhouses setting
Good understanding of crops growing conditions
Experience managing automated irrigation/fertilization systems
